Hi, I’m Sharon
My Philosophy: A simple one....
We need to see the world through a dog's eyes before we can understand their thought process, needs and their anxieties. Understanding how your dog sees things is a big step in the process of living together in harmony.
My interest in dogs came from growing up with German Shorthaired Pointers, Setters and Border Collies. I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Whilst working in Veterinary practice I developed my interest in canine behaviour, completing several courses on canine behaviour and training.
In 2003 I opened my own Dog Training School. Offering puppy socialisation classes, beginner, intermediate and advanced obedience classes, private lessons, agility, flyball and heelwork to music.
In 2004 I began the long road to increase my knowledge even further and in 2010 I graduated with honours in my BSc in Canine Behaviour and Training. My goal is to use all of my experience and knowledge gained over the years to help educate pet dog owners, using the most recent up to date research and provide guidance and assistance in helping owner and dog live in harmony with each other.
In march 2009 my three Border Collies and I moved to Portugal to live and set up my Training School over there. My work in Portugal was mainly with nervous, fearful rescue dogs, helping them to adjust and enjoy life in their new homes, plus our usual fun obedience and agility classes.
I am now back in the UK working as a Veterinary Nurse and running my Training School in Whittlesey, Peterborough.
I believe that a dog will initially learn considerably faster and better in a safe environment where they can feel comfortable and relaxed and in their own time, something that isn't easy to do in a course of classes, where a dog has many competing distractions to cope with and not forgetting they can feel a little intimidated by it all. With this in mind my classes are held outside in a large, secure field where each dog can have plenty of space away from the others, put their focus in their owner and have fun working with their owner.
I am always updating my knowledge and my classes are a culmination of years of learning and experience and my desire to share with you how you can have the dream relationship with your dog.
I am about to embark on my next journey of learning and will be starting a Masters Degree in Animal Behaviour and Training in September 2020.
